After a parent completes the online screener survey, the study coordinator will reach out to set up a time to schedule a brief (5-10 minute) phone screen. After the phone screen, if the participant still seems eligible, the study coordinator will ask to send the adolescent a short screener survey as well as conduct a short 5-10 minute phone screen. The study coordinator may also ask to speak to the other parent of the adolescent.
After completion of the online eligibility surveys and phones screens, if the family still seems eligible and are interested in participating, they will be enrolled in the study.
After Enrollment--Assessment
Parent Interview: Each parent will complete an interview that can take between 30-60 minutes. This can be done in person or virtually, whatever the participant is more comfortable with. Each parent will receive $25 for completion of their respective interview
Assessment 1 (Adolescent): Shortly after completion of the parent interviews, the adolescent will be asked to come to Stanford to complete surveys, computer tasks, and an interview. This visit lasts about 2 hours. The adolescent will receive $50. Although already enrolled, eligibility is not confirmed until the end of this visit.
Assessment 2 (Adolescent Brain Scan): Shortly after Assessment 1 (within 2 weeks), the adolescent will be asked to come in again to complete an fMRI brain scan. This visit takes about 1.5 hours. The adolescent will receive $50.
Assessment 3(6 months later): The adolescent will be asked to come in again to complete surveys, computer tasks, and an interview. This visit will be very similar to Assessment 1. It will take about 1.5 hours. The adolescent will receive $50
Assessments 4, 5, 6, and 7: Will occur 1-year, 2-year, 3-years, and 4-years, respectively, after Assessment 2. Each assessment will ask for the adolescent to come in and complete surveys, computer tasks, and an interview. Each visit should take about 1.5 hours. The adolescent will receive $50/assessment.
